Shri Ramkrishna Hari Sevabhavi Pratisthan began in December 2004 as a small effort for women, the elderly, persons with disabilities and the underprivileged. Today it is a home for intellectually challenged and mentally ill women who need lifelong care.
Women come to us from towns and villages across Maharashtra and beyond, from every religion and background. Psychiatrists, psychologists, speech and occupational therapists and teachers work with them, and parents stay involved at every step.

Objectives
Assess each woman’s needs, train her as per NIMH norms, and provide speech, physio and occupational therapy with counselling.
Small skills, learned every day, add up to independence.
From brushing hair to stitching, from yoga to Ganpati celebrations, each woman is trained in a group that matches her ability, and the plan changes with feedback from her parents.

A bigger, safer home is almost ready.
Our three-storey building in Besa, Nagpur already houses 20 women. The upper floor is 90% complete, and we are now adding the facilities that make it safe and comfortable for women who will live here for life.

Given the right support, they can do almost any work.
Persons with disabilities can perform virtually every job. With an enabling environment and support services, most of them can be as productive as anyone else, yet employment opportunities remain limited. All our projects help develop their skills and move them towards independent living.
